THE OPPORTUNITY
While visiting Ikseon-dong Hanok Village, I noticed that despite its popularity as a tourist destination, the neighborhood lacked a cohesive visual system to define its boundaries, orient visitors at key decision points, and communicate historical or cultural context. These gaps can make the area difficult to navigate and understand, particularly for first-time and international visitors.

DESIGN LANGUAGE
Inspired by traditional Korean geometric and floral motifs, the identity reinterprets heritage through contemporary graphics and a vibrant, temple-inspired palette that reflects Ikseon-dong’s lively character.

WAYFINDING
BEYOND SIGNAGE
A mobile district guide extends the physical system beyond fixed signage. Visitors can locate destinations, browse nearby businesses and cultural sites, and continue navigating between decision points using the same visual language found throughout the neighborhood.

IKSEON-DONG
SIGNAGE SYSTEM
A hypothetical signage and wayfinding system designed to improve orientation through Ikseon-dong’s dense pedestrian alleys while creating a cohesive and recognizable identity that complements the neighborhood’s historic character.
